Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving in San Felipe is a little different, but in the best way. For us Americans down here, it’s become this laid-back day where beach vibes meet holiday tradition, and honestly, it just works.

The day usually starts at the beach, where everyone’s out relaxing, maybe setting up a chair or two near the water, just enjoying the sunshine. Families, friends, and neighbors drift in and out, some taking a dip, others just hanging out and chatting, with kids playing in the sand or running around. There’s a nice, easygoing feel to it – no rush, no big schedule, just people soaking up the day.

Then, as the sun starts to dip, it’s time for the Thanksgiving dinner. Most of us either gather with friends or head home to put together a feast. Somehow, there’s always turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes on the table, even down here in Baja. And every now and then, you’ll get a little extra – maybe some seafood, or someone brings in a Mexican dish to add something different. It’s a great blend of familiar flavors with a little twist.

Thanksgiving in San Felipe isn’t a big event or anything; it’s more about spending time with people, enjoying a good meal, and feeling grateful for this slice of paradise we’re in. It’s not the usual holiday, but that’s what makes it so nice. Just a simple day, good food, and a bunch of friendly faces – and really, that’s what Thanksgiving’s all about, isn’t it?
